Morning Ride
About
Chaps are coverings for the legs consisting of leggings and a belt. The correct pronunciation is ( shaps) They are designed to provide protection for the legs and are usually made of leather. They are most commonly associated with the cowboy culture of the American west as a protective garment when riding a horse through brushy terrain. As a working garment, the style, construction, and material of chaps are determined by location, vegetation, and personal preference. Chinks or half-chaps, as shown here, are constructed of a lighter material and often worn in the more wide open western United States where the vegetation is mostly sagebrush.
