Fragments Grotesque
About
Fragments Grotesque is an experimental display typeface by designer Rudolf Horaczek. The font is based on fragments of the Latin alphabet - arcs, lines, empty spaces - which have been reassembled. The aim was to find out how much of a letter must remain visible so that it can still be recognized. The design began as an analog experiment with cut-up paper letters. It was later implemented digitally in Fontlab and systematically developed further. Fragments Grotesque moves between typographic legibility and graphic abstraction. Nevertheless, the font remains consistent and typographically clearly structured. The result is a typeface that is visually raw, surprising and expressive.
Fragments Grotesque is not intended for body text, but for strong, visual statements. It is ideal for editorial design, poster work, and visual identities that seek to provoke and disrupt.
