MoT Sandman Retrogram
About
Sandman Retrogram is a monospaced, unicase sci-fi typeface inspired by retro computer terminals and cinematic interface design. Drawing from the restrained geometry of 1970s–80s screen graphics, it blends technical precision with a softened, human touch—resulting in a system type that feels both functional and atmospheric.
Built on a strict grid, Sandman Retrogram maintains consistent rhythm and spacing, making it ideal for UI-inspired layouts, dashboards, HUD graphics, and data-driven compositions. At the same time, its rounded geometry and distinctive unicase structure give it a unique voice for display use, including posters, titles, and sci-fi branding.
This balance between structure and personality allows the typeface to move comfortably between utility and expression. It can read like a working interface, a cinematic prop, or a piece of speculative design from an imagined future.
Sandman Retrogram is well suited for:
- Interface and UI design concepts
- Sci-fi posters and film titles
- Gaming graphics and HUD overlays
- Tech branding and experimental layouts
- Editorial features with a futuristic tone
The character set includes uppercase, lowercase (unicase construction), numerals, punctuation, symbols, arrows, and extended Latin support—making it flexible for both design systems and expressive compositions.
Pair Sandman Retrogram with neutral grotesks or minimal sans serifs to create contrast, or lean fully into its system-driven aesthetic for a cohesive, immersive look.
Designed as both a functional tool and a visual language, Sandman Retrogram captures the feeling of a future imagined through the lens of early digital systems—ordered, precise, and just slightly uncanny.
