An Art Deco Icon
From ballet costumes to haute couture ball gowns, George Barbier’s decadent, whimsical style came to define French fashion in the Art Deco era.
Each of these drawings is inspired by Barbier’s color plates from Gazette de bon ton, a prominent French fashion magazine published from 1912 to 1925. The titles of each illustration are the original captions from the Gazette.
