About Creative Market Fonts

We believe that fonts have the capacity to tell a story, communicate ideas , stir emotion , and express intent. When you choose a font you’re not just choosing letters on a screen, you’re choosing from thousands of voices, styles, moods, and perspectives. Our catalog covers a wide stylistic range. Need a retro pixel vibe for your throwback design? Maybe you found our site looking for a sleek variable font to adapt seamlessly across devices. Perhaps a display font for your new site header? Whatever it is, we’ve got you covered. Our library includes everything from expressive scripts to no-nonsense monospaced families. We pride ourselves on unique, thoughtful design of every kind, which is how we’ve become the go-to destination for unique font families. What are the different types of fonts?

While there are many ways to differentiate fonts, the main different categories to start with are serif, sans serif, script, blackletter, display/decorative, and non-Western. However, this is a nuanced topic - with a rich history, a range of opinions, and many different approaches. For a more detailed breakdown, check out our blog on different font styles here .

What is the difference between a font and a typeface?

The difference between a font and a typeface is that a typeface refers to the overall design, while a font is a specific style, size, or weight within that typeface. This is a bit confusing on its face - we think it’s a bit easier to reference an example. So if “Neue Swiss” is your typeface, "Neue Swiss Bold 12pt" might be your font. Of course, as you’ll find with anything in this wonderful world of fonts, nothing is so simple. For a fuller, more nuanced take (or if you just want to nerd out) you can check out a whole article about this topic here: What is a Typeface and How Is it Different from a Font?

What Font License is Right for Me?

A desktop license is the most common license and covers most commercial font usage. You can create graphic designs (logos, signs, etc.) and products (mugs, t-shirts, hats, etc.) for yourself, or your client(s). These are great for logos and branding, movie titles and captions, PDFs, cards, signs and print merchandise. Products may be sold for profit as long as the letters are not the main selling point of your product (like a house number or stamp set). Embedding fonts is not allowed with this license with a few exceptions (such as a PDF reports). All licenses on our site are perpetual, which means you pay once and use it forever. To use a font on your website, you’ll need a web font license. This type of license allows you to embed font files into the CSS code on your site. From there, site visitors can then see and temporarily use your embedded fonts! Web licenses on Creative Market are priced by pageview limits (essentially this means they are priced according to traffic). Beyond the web, we’ve also got you covered for apps and publications. Our app licenses allow you to embed font files in app code. These are best for things like games, mobile apps, and web apps. Our e-pub licenses are best for ebooks and digital magazines - where you would want to embed the fonts directly into your files. Here’s a helpful walk through on font use in e-books! Creative Market also offers Worry-Free font licensing for enterprise clients. Learn more about our enterprise business offerings here . Still have questions about our licenses? Get more information about all of our font licenses here . You can also chat with our licensing assistant, Creative Mark, who can help answer questions. You can knock on his door in the bottom right corner of your desktop screen.

About

Katherine Bay is a cheerful, handwritten font. It is minimal in its design, easy to read, yet adds just enough personality to make it special. Great for use in numerous projects, including books, flyers, banners, signs, greeting cards, logos... It will add the individuality you're looking for!

This font is named for a bay on the Great Barrier Island, a small island off the east coast of New Zealand. This island is very special to me and my extended family, and I spent a lot of time in my memories of the bay while creating this font.

Includes multi-lingual support for Western European languages.

Feel free to ask any questions you may have, and I will do my best to answer!
