Vintage Zeppelin Postal Kit

A huge collection authentic early 1930's Zeppelin postal ephemera - envelopes, stamps, cancellations, mailing stickers, commemorative postmarks - all in one kit! Everything (sans envelopes) is 100% scalable vector format and kit includes over 100 hi-res isolated PNG files!

This set was crafted around several mail stops made to North & South America by the German airship 'Graf Zeppelin' in the early 1930's. The kit is comprised of actual rubber-stamped frankings (term for an official postal marking) used by the zeppelin-post carrier.

You’ll even find a rare set of 1930 U.S. Graf Zeppelin commemorative (and Expo) stamps in here. Each was painstakingly hand-restored/recreated to have clean crisp letter and line detail.

The images in this kit will float high in any project: Invitations, mail-art, posters, greeting cards, t-shirts, scrapbooking, & on and on...

Includes 3 sets of files: transparent vector Ai, transparent EPS and 300 dpi transparent PNGs. Images are high-quality and free of copyright. The PNG images are separate (isolated - not ganged up on a sheet) B&W files approx. 3000 pixel-wide files on a transparent background.

In the Zeppelin Postal Kit you'll find:

  • 27 Zeppelin Frankings - A rare and large collection of authentic rubber-stamped postal frankings. These served as official commemorative envelope stampings for mail traveling by way of zeppelin only.

  • 20 authentic (official date and time stamp) zeppelin-post envelope postal cancellations.

  • 35+ lines of type (words and phrasing) most taken from actual zeppelin-post envelopes, these add vintage authenticity to any zeppelin-era project.

  • 18 air-mail, registered-mail and zeppelin-mail etiquette stickers and stamps. Set comes with 2-layer Vector Ai and EPS files and a set of 2-part 3000-pixel PNG files.

  • 5 realistic 300dpi PNG Envelope sets. These zeppelin themed envelopes are era-inspired (scans of actual vintage envelopes were used to build upon) and are exclusive to the kit. Each set is comprised of a front and a back envelope on a clear background.

  • 9 wonderful vintage drawings of zeppelin airships, vectored and ready for project repurposing. Includes 9 hi-res 5000-pixel PNGS.

  • 4 (vector and raster) vintage zeppelin-themed U.S. postage stamps, free of cancellations or markings. All four stamps are hand-rendered re-recreations, not muddy scans. The first is a reproduction of the 1933 'Century of Progress' Exposition stamp, the other 3 are reproductions of a U.S. 1930 Graf Zeppelin commemorative stamp set. The original stamps are extremely rare (only 227,000 were circulated) so you won’t find the market saturated with these images. Set comes with a 2-layer Vector and 2-part 5000-pixel PNG (stamp image and stamp shape) files.

  • Bonus image: a rustic turn-of-the-century Captain's 'Passage Chart' (used for charting travel coordinates across the Atlantic Ocean). In vector Ai, EPS and 4000-pixel PNG files.

ABOUT THE IMAGES:

For this kit I partnered with a stamp collector friend (and self-described postmark nut) who supplied the zeppelin frankings (and etiquettes) as photos and scans of his vintage collection. Countless hours of work went into isolating (and restoring) the frankings from the vintage envelopes - as most frankings had some area covered by pen markings, stamps, postmarks, stickers, etc.

Although these are vectored, the original frankings were hand rubber-stamped on envelopes of varying-quality, so all have a rustic “splotchy” line quality - this reflects the medium. Just a reminder, the frankings in this kit are not comprised of sanitized lines usually associated with vectors.

If you need help with anything, please let me know - I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

My many 'Thanks' for checking out THE ZEPPELIN POSTAL KIT volume-1 (Vol.2 ‘Hindenburg’ years is in the works). If you are seeking unusual or rarely seen stamps (postal and non-postal), please peek into my store from time to time.
