Outdated Browser
Not sure if you’re running the most updated version of your favorite browser(s)? Use this site to check your versions of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Apple Safari, and Opera, and get quick access to update them for Windows and Mac.
HackerBody
Presented as “A Geek’s Guide to Fitnessâ€, HackerBody is a daily video workout that can help users get fit quick. This looks promising for those who don’t want to work out around meat heads at the gym.
Screen Ninja 2
An app that lets users create amazing time-lapse screencasts. The feature improvements are as follows: retina-ready, multiple screens, webcam overlay, varying format exports, custom crop and much more.
Gravity Sketch
An incredible augmented reality tool, Gravity Sketch empowers users to sketch in three-dimensional space. This looks very futuristic to me!
Homeless Fonts
Homeless Fonts is an Arrels Foundation initiative which consist of creating a collection of typefaces based on the handwriting of homeless people. The idea behind these typefaces is for big brands to use them in their advertising and corporate announcements. All proceeds go to the Arrel Foundation.
Mission Street Mfg: Printeer
A 3d printer created so that kids can learn it in 30 seconds and start printing toys and other creations. It’s crowd funding on Kickstarter towards a $50k goal, and the overall printer looks extremely fun! The internal moving parts of the printer are color-coded and the entire casing is transparent so that users can see exactly how it works. Pretty neat stuff. Consider backing them. (via Mashable)
Humin
With a beta invite request needed, Humin is a new phone app that consolidates all social activity by your contacts into a dashboard experience, such as calls, texts, social media platform activity, and much more. Connect quickly with contacts you know in the way you like, and easily keep track of new connections made.
Photoshop for Design
With all of the development of various apps that plan to help designers product interactive design projects more easily, it’s nice to see Tim, Bradee and the team renewing the commitment that Adobe has to keep pushing Photoshop forward as a great tool for design.
Facebook: Slingshot
Reported as Facebook’s response to the success of Snapchat, Slingshot is their offering in a similar ephemeral digital spirit. From the looks of it, the app seems like a promising product – available in both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
Good Beer Hunting
A classy, well-crafted new platform dedicated to all things beer. In particular, I really like their Stories (blog), B-Roll and Podcast offerings.
Nathan Barry: Authority
Known as a prominent self-publishing designer, Nathan just released his latest book, titled Authority. In it, he shares how to become an expert, build a following and gain financial independence through writing and releasing books online. Essentially, it’s his path for those who want to follow in his footsteps. Smart stuff.
Poetica
Co-founded by Blaine Cook, the founding lead engineer of Twitter, Poetica is a collaboration platform that will portray more traditional views of text collaboration through a browser-based editor and Chrome extension. (via TechCrunch)
H&Co: Save the Date
A new discovery tool by Hoefler & Co., Save the Date offers various visual displays for how their fonts might appear on printed wedding collateral. Users can isolate fonts shown in the full-browser experience, and click to explore more to purchase them for use in their own project.
Adobe CC 2014 & More
Adobe launched the latest version of CC, a new digital pencil, a digital ruler, 5 mobile apps and more this week.
Adobe Ink is a lightweight, pressure sensitive aluminum pen that allows for a comfortable grip and high-control with a fine-tip. It requires an iPad running iOS7 to use it. Adobe Slide is a digital ruler that brings draftsmanship precision to iPad’s running iOS 7 too. The hardware pieces come paired together for $199.
The iPad apps that Adobe launched are Sketch (freeform tablet drawing), Adobe Line (precision drawing and drafting), Photoshop Mix (another level of PS power on iPad), Lightroom Mobile for iPhone, and the Creative Cloud app (for managing files, assets and more on mobile). Some of them were strategically shipped and optimized for the launch of Adobe Ink and Slide.
Adobe CC 2014 shipped a huge list of new features across 14 of their popular apps, which you can explore through the following: Photoshop CC 2014, Illustrator CC 2014, InDesign CC 2014, After Effects CC 2014.
