What are the different types of fonts?

While there are many ways to differentiate fonts, the main different categories to start with are serif, sans serif, script, blackletter, display/decorative, and non-Western. What is the difference between a font and a typeface?

The difference between a font and a typeface is that a typeface refers to the overall design, while a font is a specific style, size, or weight within that typeface. This is a bit confusing on its face - we think it’s a bit easier to reference an example. So if “Neue Swiss” is your typeface, "Neue Swiss Bold 12pt" might be your font. Of course, as you’ll find with anything in this wonderful world of fonts, nothing is so simple. What Font License is Right for Me?

A desktop license is the most common license and covers most commercial font usage. You can create graphic designs (logos, signs, etc.) and products (mugs, t-shirts, hats, etc.) for yourself, or your client(s). These are great for logos and branding, movie titles and captions, PDFs, cards, signs and print merchandise. Products may be sold for profit as long as the letters are not the main selling point of your product (like a house number or stamp set). Embedding fonts is not allowed with this license with a few exceptions (such as a PDF reports). All licenses on our site are perpetual, which means you pay once and use it forever. To use a font on your website, you’ll need a web font license. This type of license allows you to embed font files into the CSS code on your site. From there, site visitors can then see and temporarily use your embedded fonts! Web licenses on Creative Market are priced by pageview limits (essentially this means they are priced according to traffic). Beyond the web, we’ve also got you covered for apps and publications. Our app licenses allow you to embed font files in app code. These are best for things like games, mobile apps, and web apps. About

Poeta Color is an ornamental color font family for making patterns and text decoration. It contains floral, nature, abstract motifs, and a universe of creative possibilities.

The symbols are versatile enough for simple decoration or festive holiday moods. Designers can use Poeta to make unique lines, borders, backgrounds, or ornamentation within or around text. Try replacing a simple straight line with repeated symbols. Cover an area in a pattern to add visual interest to a design. Use the forms to decorate a chapter title or to mark the end of a magazine article. Replace a letter with a symbol to create a memorable word. Poeta will add visual poetry to any design project.

This font began with sketches of patterns seen in ceramic tiles around Sicily. It is named Poeta because Sicily is an island rich in poetry traditions.

Below is some helpful technical information.

Using this font is simple. Install it and type. Symbols will appear instead of letters. Choose the precise symbols through a software’s glyph palette. Use the type/character menu controls to vary the spacing and density of patterns. All fonts are vector-based, OpenType, and fully scalable.

Six of the fonts have different color or grey combinations. One of the fonts (solid) is a standard font. The font previews on this website will only display the font in black. See the slides to get an idea of the colors. Be assured that the colors are present in the files and will appear when loaded on the computer.

The colors that are in each font:

Primary: red, yellow, blue

Secondary: orange, green, purple

Tertiary: red-orange, yellow-orange, yellow-green, blue-green, blue-violet, red-violet

Diverse: many different warm and cool colors

Grey: three different greys from light to dark

Gradient: a greyscale gradient

Solid: standard font and can be colored normally

How can I unzip product files?

PC: To extract a single file or folder, double-click the compressed folder to open it. Then, drag the file or folder from the compressed folder to a new location. To extract the entire contents of the compressed folder, right-click the folder, click Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

Mac: Double click the .zip file, then search for the product folder or product file.

How do I install a font?

After you unzip your font product files, you will see .OTF or .TTF files. To install a font, just double click on the OTF or TTF file. For more information, check out our Font FAQ.

What software do I need to use this font?

When a font is installed on your computer, it can be used with any program that allows you to create text. Fonts will work in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe software, and almost any other program with a text editor.
