Instead, you make use of a carefully crafted template that a talented creator took the time to build somewhere on Earth. Before we do, however, let’s go over some of the basics of installing these themes once you’ve downloaded them:
Installing a Keynote theme
Follow these simple steps to install and customize a new Keynote template:
- Install any required fonts. If you don’t, the template will look odd and certain layout elements might fall out of place
- Open the .key file included in the folder. Make sure it’s compatible with your version of Keynote.
- You’ll get a number of predesigned slides with various elements to play with: icons, chart types, text layouts with different columns, photo compositions, among others. Save a copy of the original (template) Keynote and delete the slide layouts you won’t be using.
- If you want to tweak the entire template, go to your Navigator pane on the right and click on Format → Edit Master Slide
- Edit copy and images to your liking and save.
