Bad or Rad: Instagram's New Logo

Let’s take a moment to let this all sink in but … Instagram has changed their logo. Here’s the video announcing the change:

They also changed the logos for all of their products to match (Layout, Boomerang and Hyperlapse), and here they are:

This is all very fresh news, as Instagram just announced the change earlier today on their blog. So we don’t know who designed the logo, how it came to be, why it was changed or any of that good info. All we know is that this new logo – which also applies to the app icon you’ll see on your mobile phone – steers away from the skeumorphic approach that we had before, and keeps things super simple. Also, the colors that were previously in the upper left-hand corner of the app icon are now integrated into the rainbow seen in the background of the new one.
