20 Klein Blue Color Palettes to Try This Month: May 2016
Color affects us in powerful ways. Whether warm and bright or cold and dark, certain tones can impact the way we perceive the messages that surround us. As visual communicators, many of us love experimenting with new color combinations to see where they take our design concepts. To help you out, we’ve handpicked 20 bold palettes from the most popular ones uploaded to Colourlovers.
International Klein Blue (IKB) is a rich ultramarine blue invented by the French artist Yves Klein. He worked with a chemist to develop his own particular shade of intense blue. Klein called the colour “pure energy”. It’s so startling that it can’t be accurately reproduced on computer displays; it must be experienced “in the flesh”!
Klein Blue is one of the emerging 6 Beautiful Color Trends of 2016. It’s an intense colour, perfect to pair with the monochrome trend and ideal for graphic design. Posters, logos, business cards, resumes, stationery and other layout projects are areas where it’s easy and effective to use International Klein Blue.
Take a peek at Trend List for some inspiring examples of International Klein Blue used in contemporary graphic design.
Since International Klein Blue is so vivid and expressive, I’d create a minimalist colour scheme, simply adding black and white, or a charcoal grey and creamy white. I’ve also collected some palettes for wilder and more intense colour combinations.
The best part? All of these palettes are available for download. Just click on the one/s you like and you ll be able to grab the swatches in a ton of formats including .ai, .html, .zip, .aco and .ase. You’ll also find the HEX and RGB specs for each color so that you can use it in your next web or print design project. For each palette, make sure to read the details of its Creative Commons license.
