You could make the argument that there can never be enough colors, no matter how many Pantone puts out there. And yet, now, with the introduction of the Pantone Plus series, Pantone is adding 112 colors to their system, and they say that they’re made specifically for graphic designers. Hey wait – are you a graphic designer? Well then maybe you’re who they’re talking about. Small world!
Now out of all of this press release stuff, there’s one key takeaway that I pulled, and it came from a quote from one of the designers involved in the project, Jessica Walsh: “You can make sure that the Hex values that you’re seeing on web translate to the RGB, translate to the CMYK, and you’re getting the same consistency from print to digital.” Now THAT right there makes it all worth it to me.
As is all of these types of things from Pantone, they’re not cheap, but they are pretty handy to have. Will you be picking one of these up soon?
